Terms of Use · Updated October 31, 2026

Our purpose.
Your responsibility.

A community built around safer choices, truthful education, and respect for other people.

01 / What this is

An educational prevention project

The Turn Ahead offers information about impaired driving, self-reflection tools, optional user accounts, and a moderated public commitment board. It does not provide medical diagnosis, treatment, counseling, legal advice, individual safety assessments, or credit toward court-ordered education. Materials are not a substitute for professional services or official legal requirements.

Using a calculator, reading a lesson, signing a commitment, or completing a 30-day reflection does not establish that you are safe to drive or free from impairment. The only safe plan when drinking or otherwise impaired is not to drive.

02 / Eligibility and accounts

Participation is voluntary

Browsing learning resources is available without signing in. To create a personal account journal or post a public commitment, you must be at least 18 years old and provide accurate eligibility confirmation. You are responsible for safeguarding your sign-in credentials and activity under your account. Notify the operator if you believe your account was compromised.

Your private journal is intended for personal reflection. It is not a medical record or a place to disclose sensitive information about anyone else. Account tools may be unavailable during maintenance, and you should keep your own backup of any reflections you cannot afford to lose.

03 / Community participation

Share with care

Public board submissions are optional, reviewed before publication, and subject to our Community Guidelines. You may not post threats, harassment, spam, private details about others, illegal content, or statements that endanger anyone. We may reject, hide, or remove content and restrict participation when needed for safety, privacy, or legal compliance.

You retain ownership of content you submit. If you explicitly submit a public commitment, you grant the site permission to store, review, display, and share that approved text and limited public-card fields on this website until it is removed. This permission does not grant us ownership of your personal story or private journals.

04 / Accuracy and outside resources

Use judgment, and check official sources

We aim to use credible public-health and traffic-safety references, but information can change and generalized examples cannot predict your individual circumstances. This project does not certify the accuracy of community posts. Links to government agencies, support organizations, or other websites are provided as resources, not endorsements of every statement or service they offer.

05 / Safety and emergencies

Take immediate risks seriously

Do not rely on a website, personal commitment, or reflection calendar in an emergency. If someone is about to drive impaired, help them arrange another way home without placing yourself in danger. Call emergency services for immediate danger. In the United States, call or text 988 for mental-health crisis support.

Alcohol withdrawal can be medically dangerous for people who are physically dependent. Seek qualified medical guidance rather than treating this website as a withdrawal plan.

06 / Access, changes, and complaints

We may improve or limit features

We may change, suspend, or discontinue site features; update educational material; or remove content that violates these terms. Where reasonably possible, we'll explain material policy changes before they affect account holders. You can request access to or deletion of the personal data we control as described in the Privacy Policy.

Questions or complaints can be sent to the contact address published in our Privacy Policy once operator details are configured.

07 / Limitations

No promise of a particular outcome

We cannot guarantee uninterrupted availability or that use of the site will prevent any particular event, arrest, crash, or health outcome. To the extent permitted by applicable law, the service is provided as-is without a guarantee of fitness for a particular purpose. Nothing here limits rights that cannot legally be excluded.

Working policy draft for owner and legal review before launch. The operator's identity, required consumer disclosures, jurisdiction-specific terms, and any additional liability language must be finalized before the site accepts public accounts.
